Using chemicals in your pool

Stabiliser

A white non-toxic powder that stabilises chlorine and pH, lowering maintenance costs. Used at the start of the season; one dose lasts 2–4 months. Initial dose 20–30 g/m³.

Granular chlorine

  • Organic solid chlorine 60%: dissolves fast. Initial dose 5–8 g/m³, maintenance 0.5–1 g/m³ daily, shock 4–10 g/m³.
  • Organic solid chlorine 90%: slow-dissolving for continuous disinfection. Initial dose 3–6 g/m³, maintenance 0.5–1 g/m³ daily.

Tablets & multi-action tablets

200 g tablets with 90% active chlorine in a floating dispenser, skimmer or inline chlorinator. Multi-action tablets combine chlorine, algaecide, flocculant and pH stabiliser. Free chlorine should be 0.6–1 ppm.

Problems & solutions

  • Opaque green water or algae in the grout: pH 7.2–7.6, 10 g chlorine 60%/m³, 6 g algaecide/m³
  • Clear green or yellow water: pH 7.2–7.6, 100 g chlorine 60%/m³, 10 g algaecide/m³
  • Cloudy water: pH 7.2–7.6 and flocculant according to turbidity

Safety

On contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical care. The goal of chemical treatment: health and appearance — crystal-clear water with effective filtration and gentle chemicals.
